Congratulations to CGEN Voices finalists

I would like to congratulate our choirs who performed so well during our Creative Generations Voices Choral division (formerly Choral Fanfare) festival and finals. This year, for the first time CGEN Choral was held across the state. More than 11,000 state school students participated in the festival. From the regional finals seven primary and five secondary schools were named as state finalists. At the grand final  six choirs represented Metropolitan Region;
 
·         Macgregor State School Vocal Fusion (Zoe Penman)
·         The Gap State School Junior Choir (Katherine Ruhle)
·         Warrigal Rd State School Senior Choir (Anne Pook)
·         Brisbane State High School Senior Girls Vocal Ensemble (Bron Postlethwaite)
·         Kenmore State High School Show Choir (Tricia Elgar)
·         Macgregor State High School Show Choir Tamara Luski).
 
Special congratulations go to the choirs who received the Most Outstanding Performance awards for primary and for secondary choirs;
·         Edge Hill State School (Patrice Hogan)
·         Cairns State High School (Lauren Hannay)
 
For the first time this year our program also included a Vocal Soloist division. 150 state school vocalists auditioned for a place in this program with 15 students qualifying to take part in a three day vocal workshop. Congratulations to our students from Metropolitan Region who performed in the final concert;

Creative Generations Voices this year demonstrated that vocal programs in our state schools are thriving. Thankyou for your support for choral music in our schools. While it is always important to celebrate our students’ success, we do need to remember that this success reflects our teachers’ commitment, expertise and passion.
